Soph Carpenter

Hi there! My name is Sophia, or Soph, Carpenter and I am a queer genderfluid artist from the Memphis, Tennessee area.

My friends and family would say I love things with every fiber of my being, and in a unique way that brings up questions/perspectives most wouldn't think about. One of those “things” is most definitely theatre. Since starting in community theatre at 6 years old, I have developed a love for every aspect of the world of theatre. Set design, choreographing, directing, stage managing, costuming. But the two I love the most? Performing and hair/makeup design.

As a genderfluid performer, I strive to blur the lines of gender conformity. To be an actor who plays a very masculine role in one show, and a very feminine character the next.

I also love learning and exploring characters through the world of hair and makeup design, matching my designs to the characters emotional journey throughout a piece. I strive to have audiences ask questions on how they saw the world before a show vs after, and inspire them to give up their strict ideas of how people are supposed to look and sound.
